Ingredients in homemade peanut butter cups

  • Vegan Chocolate chips. The flavor of vegan chocolate chips can vary depending on the brand, but they are generally rich and chocolatey. Typically dark chocolate is vegan. Read your labels to ensure the chocolate you use is 100% dairy-free.
  • Peanut butter. Use homemade peanut butter or storebought. I like to use unsweetened and crunchy or creamy peanut butter work here. If you are using unsalted, add a pinch of salt to it. You could also substitute it with almond butter.
  • Powdered sugar
  • Optional ingredients. You can finish this homemade Reese’s with Maldon Salt, dried rose petals, candied ginger, chopped peanuts, or nuts.

How to melt chocolate?

Microwave: To melt chocolate in the microwave, first break the chocolate into small pieces. Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat it in the microwave on high power in 30 seconds intervals. Stir the chocolate and continue to heat it in the microwave in 15-second intervals until it is melted.

Double broiler: Place a heatproof bowl on top of a saucepan of simmering water, ensuring the bowl doesn’t touch the water. Add the chocolate to the bowl and stir until melted.
