About this recipe
This golden latte is my favorite morning drink: coffee blended with plant milk, turmeric, and a mix of warming spices that makes it taste incredible. It takes 5 minutes in the blender and comes out frothy, creamy, and with the most beautiful golden color. You can have it hot or pour it over ice, and it is packed with anti-inflammatory benefits that make you feel good all day.
I make this several times a week. It is one of those recipes that, once you try it, becomes part of your routine.
What is a golden latte?
A golden latte is a drink made with coffee, warm or cold milk, turmeric, a sweetener, and a blend of spices. The turmeric gives it that gorgeous golden color, and the spices add a complex, warming flavor. Think of it as your regular latte but with superpowers.
The difference between a golden latte and golden milk: traditional golden milk does not contain coffee, it is just warm milk with spices. This golden latte includes coffee, so it is perfect if you want the benefits of turmeric without giving up your morning coffee.
The golden spice blend
The golden spice blend originated in India and is built around turmeric as the main ingredient. Each spice brings something different:
- Turmeric: One of the most powerful natural anti inflammatories. Helps reduce inflammation, fight colds and improve digestion.
- Ginger: Supports digestion and boosts the immune system.
- Cinnamon: Can help regulate blood sugar levels.
- Black pepper: Helps your body absorb the curcumin in turmeric (this is key).
- Cloves and cardamom: Add depth and an incredible aroma.

Ingredients
- Coffee: Strong brewed coffee or espresso. Can be hot or cold depending on how you want your latte.
- Plant milk: Almond, oat or soy. Can also be hot or cold.
- Coconut oil: MCT or regular. Adds creaminess and helps your body absorb the spices better.
- Sweetener: Dates, maple syrup or agave. Adjust to taste.
- Vanilla extract: Adds a subtle sweetness and rounds out the flavor.
- Golden spice blend: Turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, cloves and cardamom.

How to make a golden latte at home
- Make the coffee: Brew a strong americano or espresso. If you want an iced latte, you can use coffee you already have in the fridge.
- Blend everything: Add the coffee, plant milk, coconut oil, sweetener, vanilla and golden spice blend to the blender. Blend for about 30 seconds until frothy and well combined.
- Serve: For an iced version, pour over a glass full of ice. For a hot latte, pour directly into your favorite mug.

Home Cook Tips
- Always blend first, then pour over ice. If the milk or coffee is very cold and you add coconut oil directly, it can get clumpy. Blending first prevents that.
- You can double or triple the recipe. Make it for the whole family or keep extras in the fridge.
- Do not skip the black pepper. Piperine in black pepper helps your body absorb curcumin (the active compound in turmeric) up to 2000 times better.
- Adjust the sweetness. Start with one date or one teaspoon of maple syrup, taste, and add more if needed.
- Oat milk is my favorite for this latte because it makes it extra creamy with a mild flavor that pairs perfectly with the spices.
Benefits of the golden latte
- Anti-inflammatory: Turmeric is one of the most powerful natural anti-inflammatories.
- Rich in antioxidants: Turmeric, ginger and cinnamon are all packed with antioxidants.
- Good for digestion: Ginger and cinnamon support healthy digestion.
- Energy with benefits: You get the energy from coffee plus all the benefits from the spices.

Variations
- Without coffee (traditional golden milk): Skip the coffee and use only plant milk with the spices. This gives you the classic golden milk version, perfect before bed.
- With matcha: Replace the coffee with matcha for a version with gentler, more sustained energy.
- Extra creamy: Add a tablespoon of almond butter or cashew butter before blending.
How to store
You can store the latte in the fridge for up to 2 days in a sealed jar. Shake it well or blend it for a few seconds before drinking to bring back the creamy texture. You can also make the coffee ahead of time and keep it in the fridge so your morning latte is even faster.
