Why I’m skipping strict rules this January and choosing mocktails instead
Last year, I tried Dry January and failed. Not dramatically, not in a headline-worthy way; the truth is, I forgot I was doing it. But I realized something about myself: I’m not great with hard rules, diets, or restrictions. What actually works for me is listening to my body.
And truthfully, my body is very good at communicating. Some days it wants wine. On other days, it’s clearly asking for freshness, juice, citrus, and something light and hydrating. So this year, instead of declaring anything “off limits,” I decided to pay attention.

Pineapple Margarita Mocktail
Tropical, tangy, and totally booze-free—this Pineapple Margarita Mocktail is the drink you didn’t know you needed. It’s made with just a few fresh ingredients (think pineapple, ginger, and a touch of coconut sugar), but tastes like a vacation in a glass. Perfect for parties, brunch, or even breakfast—yes, it’s that healthy. Bright, refreshing, and ready in 10 minutes!
Spicy Alcohol-Free Pineapple Mint Margarita Mocktail
This spicy pineapple-mint margarita mocktail is a refreshing and healthy drink, perfect for brunch, summer gatherings, or a fun family-friendly treat. Made with frozen pineapple, fresh mint, lime juice, and a touch of jalapeño, this easy non-alcoholic margarita has a tropical flavor with a subtle kick—just like the real thing!
A delicious recipe for strawberry and hibiscus margaritas to celebrate a very special day. They are filled with antioxidants; they are very easy to prepare and taste amazing.
Looking for a versatile and refreshing drink to savor during the summer? Look no further than the watermelon and jalapeño margarita. It's a cinch to make and the best part is that you can customize it to your liking-with or without tequila. It's the perfect way to chill out and unwind during those scorching summer days.
Along with changing what I drink, I’m also being more intentional about rest. This year, I’m adding more magnesium at night, specifically from Nello, and paying closer attention to how my body responds when sleep is actually supported instead of forced.
If you’re curious about supplements in a similar, gentle, non-aggressive wellness space, here are a few others that align with that same approach:
Hilma – Thoughtful, minimal formulas focused on gut health and sleep support
Moon Juice – Known for magnesium-based powders designed for nighttime routines
Magnesium glycinate blends from clean-label wellness brands that focus on calm and recovery rather than quick fixes
Herbal sleep blends with ingredients like tart cherry, L-theanine, or passionflower for a softer wind-down
This year isn’t about doing things perfectly. It’s about choosing what actually feels good, paying attention, and letting habits shift naturally. Sometimes that means wine. Sometimes that means a mocktail with fresh citrus and a salted rim. And honestly, both can coexist.
If you’re easing into the year and want drinks that feel just as intentional as cocktails, these are a great place to start.
