About this recipe

The idea for this granola recipe was inspired by my pumpkin pie granola recipe. One day, I was really craving a fall pie and then I thought about my granola. This Apple Pie Granola combines all the warm spices and apple goodness that you’d find in a pie, but in a crispy, healthy snack. It’s simple to make, filled with wholesome ingredients, and makes the perfect addition to your yogurt, smoothie bowls, or just enjoy it on its own!

Quick & Easy: Ready in less than 30 minutes.
Healthy: Made with oats, nuts, real apples, and maple syrup.
Vegan & Gluten-Free: A perfect snack for everyone!
Meal-Prep Friendly: Stores well so that you can enjoy it all week.

A baking sheet holds ingredients for oatmeal: a bowl of rolled oats, a measuring cup with applesauce, and small bowls with chopped pecans, maple syrup, apple slices, cinnamon, and oil. A spoon rests in the cinnamon as if crafting an apple pie granola. Everything is on a marble surface.
  • Old-fashioned oats: The base of any good granola.
  • Apples: Chopped into bite-sized pieces for that apple pie flavor and apple puree.
  • Maple syrup: Adds a natural sweetness and crispiness.
  • Vegetable oil: Helps everything crisp up nicely in the oven.
  • Apple Spice Mix: These spices are key for that apple pie warmth.
  • Pecans or walnuts: Add crunch and a nutty flavor.

How to make apple pie granola

Preheat the oven to 325°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Mix oats, nuts, spices, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk together maple syrup, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract in a smaller bowl.

Pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients, add apples, and stir until coated. Spread the mixture on the baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway. Let the granola cool before storing it in an airtight container.

Tips to make and Enjoy

  • Use apples: Fresh apples will add moisture, making the granola soggy. Dried apples keep things crisp.
  • Stir halfway: This ensures the granola bakes evenly and doesn’t burn.
  • Customize it: Swap out the nuts for seeds or add dried cranberries for a burst of color and flavor.
  • Enjoy with yogurt or a smoothie bowl: Add a crunchy, spiced twist to your breakfast.
  • Snack on the go: Perfect for packing in lunch boxes or taking on hikes.
  • Over ice cream: A fun, dessert-like treat with a hint of fall spices.

Health Benefits of Apple Pie Granola

This granola isn’t just tasty; it’s packed with nutrients. Oats provide fiber, which helps with digestion and keeps you feeling full. The healthy fats from the nuts and coconut oil are great for heart health, while the dried apples add a touch of natural sweetness and provide vitamins like vitamin C.
