Carajillo, the best after dinner Mexican coffee cocktail
Carajillo is one of Mexico City’s favorite after-dinner coffee cocktails. It’s bold, sweet, and surprisingly simple—made with just espresso and Licor 43, a golden Spanish liqueur with vanilla and citrus notes. You’ll see it everywhere during la sobremesa (the sacred after-dinner ritual of conversation and connection). This drink is as much about culture as it is about flavor. Let’s make one together at home.
