What fruits and vegetables are in season in March?

As March approaches, we are at a delightful time of the year, beginning the transition from the last of the winter breezes to the first warmth of spring. This month brings us a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables that not only promise to add color and flavor to our dishes, but also nutrition and freshness.

Taking advantage of seasonal fruits and vegetables is not only a way to enjoy more decadent flavors, but also to support local agriculture and reduce our environmental impact. By choosing seasonal products, we participate in a more conscious and sustainable consumption cycle, benefiting our palate and the planet.

Here are some recipes to enjoy with fruits and vegetables for March.

Kiwi: This small fruit is usually at its best in winter. I like to eat it as a dessert or snack in the afternoon.

Citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruit, lemons, and lime are still in full swing in March.

Pineapple: This fruit is incredibly versatile; it can be consumed fresh, in juices, in fruit salads, as a complement to savory dishes, and even in desserts.

Asparagus. Asparagus can be green, white, or even purple. They are a real gem in the kitchen because they go well with almost anything, from a touch of lemon to good pasta. And the best thing is that you can prepare them in a thousand ways: grilled, steamed, in a salad, or however you like.

Peas. Peas, also known as vetch or peas, are those little green balls that you probably didn’t like when you were a kid. They are like a superfood disguised as a common vegetable: low in calories but high in nutrients such as vitamins K, C, and several B complex vitamins, as well as fiber and protein.
